I have 111 books in my studio (yes, I counted them) that are Tutorials, and I acquired them slowly over about 10 years. I find that I no longer go to them for inspiration, and decided to get rid of them. Before I do that, however, I’m going to TRY to do ONE PAGE out of each book. Wish me luck……
19 Books Down, 92 to go….
Book: Design & Composition Secrets of Professional Artists
It’s one of the many books I bought that I never actually read, but just looked at the beautiful photos of other people’s art. Today I skimmed it, and decided to be more mindful for this page in my journal.
I found a photo of some chairs, and photo-shopped a hat onto one of the chairs, as my reference photo.
I thought about colors, and more importantly, tone. This is still simply a fairly quick piece in my journal, but I definitely think it worked because I didn’t just start throwing down color. It also implies a story, and has a figurative element. Although there is no figure in the piece, the hat implies a human………….
I really like this one. The chairs are so well done.
I really like this as well Cher .. The hat is worn and brings with it not only a story but it seems like a bit of history .. Good job!! Great shadows!!
