Series – 1 Page From Every Tutorial Book In My Library #16

I have 111 books in my studio (yes, I counted them) that are Tutorials,  and I acquired them slowly over about 10 years.  I find that I no longer go to them for inspiration, and decided to get rid of them.  Before I do that, however, I’m going to TRY to do ONE PAGE out of each book.  Wish me luck……

Finding Your Visual Voice by Dakota Mitchell

I might keep this book, it’s really inspiring…..

I am drawn to art that

  • is Representational but not Realistic
  • incorporates bits of ephemera/torn paper
  • has a figure in it
  • uses color dramatically
  • evokes a story in my head

I’m writing this part of the blog post before I even start the piece, so that I commit to the Intention.  I’ll attempt a small piece using the four parameters above.

Update:  Here’s what I’ve got so far…..  10×12 Acrylic on Canvas.  It will be called “The Letter….”

I’m happy with how it’s progressing.
