I have 111 books in my studio (yes, I counted them) that are Tutorials, and I acquired them slowly over about 10 years. I find that I no longer go to them for inspiration, and decided to get rid of them. Before I do that, however, I’m going to TRY to do ONE PAGE out of each book. Wish me luck……
14 Books Down, 97 to go….
7 Keys to Great Paintings, by Jane R. Hofstetter
I really struggled to find something to do from this book, they all looked really complicated, but once I started actually READING the book, rather than just looking at the pictures, I saw this: Paint what excites you, and let your subconscious Mind emerge.
SO…… I got a pen and just started drawing. No plan, other than that I wanted a face in there somewhere. No pencil and eraser. I just started drawing and doodling.
The face ended up looking slightly Aztec-y, so I added a lizard. What a great zen-like experience. I kept thinking it was done, then I’d start doodling a bit more….
This might be the inspiration for a big piece in this style.
I really like. PS you might want to keep that book
Ditto what he said.
This turned out good, love all the detail
You are so creative. I could never do that.
I am with the others .. Keep the book and let your imagination take you deeper more often .. Love it !!
