When we were in Mexico in November, Paul got stung by a Sting Ray, and YIKES, it’s a big deal. Apparently, most people try to just tough it out and assume that the pain will lessen as the day wears on. Not So! said the doctor at our resort. If you don’t get the anti-venom, the pain gets worse and worse over a 3 to 4 day period.
Paul, who has an extraordinarily high pain threshold, acknowledged that he was in pain, so we went to see the Doc. He gave Paul a localized injection for the pain, and then three injections of anti-venom. He also gave Paul some powerful pain meds to take orally if requred.
These sting rays weren’t more than 5 or 6 inches across, but boy they are wicked little creatures, and unfortunately Banderas Bay was rife with them while we were there.
Naturally, I recorded it in my journal (but only after bringing Paulie a cold one!).
